WEST VALLEY PLAYERS & PARENTS

What you need to prepare for and enjoy your season

West Valley Softball provides playing opportunities for 5-18-year-olds. As players develop, the rules, gameplay and field dimensions are adjusted to suit their abilities and cultivate their love of the game.

Respect in Sport for Parents Certification (every four years)

Respect in Sport (RIS) for Parents certification is required for at least one parent or guardian per household. The course MUST be taken prior to April 1 of the current year.

The Respect in Sport Program is an online certification program designed to protect our youth as well as enhance Calgary Minor Softball of providing a safe and fun environment for all our participants. It is Canada’s leading online bullying, abuse, harassment, and negligence prevention program for parents, coaches, and community leaders.

The course is taken online and requires about three (3) hours to complete. Certification is valid for four years, at which point you will be given a notification for renewal if you are registered to coach or manage. If a parent has current RIS certification from another sport, (e.g.: hockey) they are not required to reapply for certification.

  • CLICK HERE to LEARN more about the program on the Respect Group's official website.

  • CLICK HERE to TAKE the Parents course through Calgary Minor Softball.

NOTE: The course cannot be taken through the Respect Group's official website. You must access it through the Calgary Minor Softball website.
